In Spring 2022, I met my long term friend Lisa Cooper for a coffee in Stirling and a shared dream emerged. We wanted to share a clinic space in Glasgow. Lisa was practising her Craniosacral Therapy in Balquhidder, near Stirling, and I was practising Shiatsu in Glasgow City Centre.
I had seen this building when I visited a writer friend who rented a studio space on the top floor. It was the quiet bolt hole she needed to write in peace outside her home.
I saw that the location had potential, being so close to all forms of transport, and in June we viewed a room in the same building. We signed the lease and spent July cleaning, furnishing and settling in. We both found that we loved the space, and our clients did too.
In August we had a small ritual with a few friends in front of the Buddha to dedicate the clinic and our work to the wellbeing of others.
The name West End Wellbeing emerged from that ritual. It rolled easily off the tongue and we liked it. No deliberate decision was made. It just stuck. Now we find that folk are coming from the Southside too, with it being so near to the Underground.
In November Karunajaya joined with her Reflexology practice so now we have a team of three with a fourth practitioner planning to join us in the New Year.
Six months in January, we can hardly believe it! Merkland St is such a friendly wee street. We have been welcomed by shopkeepers and neighbours and this has really helped us to settle into this fantastic local community so well.
Festive greetings from
